A 71-year-old Waipahu man is in police custody, suspected of being one of two men involved in an argument Sunday that ended with the death of a third man.
The suspect was arrested Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of Marlo G. Basuel, 42. Police have said the victim got into an argument with two men at a party and was stabbed several times.
Paramedics took Basuel from a Kahuanani Street home at 9:48 p.m. Sunday to a hospital in "extremely critical condition." He died at the hospital three hours later.
Police reports said Basuel was involved in a fight with two other men.
During the fight, one of the suspects stabbed Basuel several times and fled.
Police are not saying whether the 71-year-old man is the primary suspect. The police have not said whether the weapon used in the incident has been recovered.
The suspect has no prior criminal record.
The suspect was arrested at his Kahualoa Place home, several blocks north of the Waipahu crime scene.
