» Second annual Spreading Joy with Toys!: Donate new, unwrapped toys for homeless children. » Lanakila Meals on Wheels: Seeking donations of handmade cards and small gift items (such as $5 gift cards, stationery, reusable tote bags, house slippers, crossword puzzle books and grooming kits) to be given to local seniors. » Salvation Army Angel Tree: Brighten up the holidays for a child or senior citizen in need by choosing an angel from the tree and purchasing a gift to fulfill that person’s wish. Unwrapped gifts should be returned to the Angel Tree. Locations include Pearlridge Center through Dec. 15; Kahala Mall through Dec. 17; and Windward Mall through Dec. 21.
» "Be a Santa to a Senior" program: Through Dec. 13, Walgreens Pharmacy, 1121 S. Beretania St., will display a Christmas tree decked with ornaments featuring seniors’ gift requests. Pick an ornament, fulfill the request and return the unwrapped item to the tree. The local Home Instead Senior Care office will enlist volunteers to collect, wrap and distribute the gifts.
