An 18-year-old Kalihi man allegedly assaulted a police officer who arrived to break up a fight between the suspect, his mother and another man.

The incident occurred in the Kalihi area around 1:16 a.m. Sunday when neighbors heard a 55-year-old woman call for help, according to police records. Police said the woman ran down the street to another son’s house. Responding officers found two men fighting in the street outside the house.

A 28-year-old man and the suspect were separated, and the suspect went after his mother, police said. The 18-year-old then assaulted an officer who tried to intervene, according to police.

Officers arrested the teenager near Kopke and Stanley streets around 1:20 a.m. on suspicion of assaulting a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and abuse of a household or family member, according to police records.
