QUESTION: What is the cheapest way to leave your car at Honolulu Airport if you are going on a trip?

ANSWER: Honolulu International Airport has an economy parking lot ($12 a day; minimum charge $24) located at the commuter terminal.

Q: Is there off-airport parking that is cheaper than parking at the airport?

A: I’m not aware of any companies that provide that service.

Q: If you park in one of the regular parking garages at the airport, how much is it an hour, and what is the maximum a day?

A: There is a 15-minute grace period. The first half-hour or portion thereof is $1, the second half-hour or portion thereof is $2 and it’s $2 for each additional hour up to a maximum of $15 for a 24-hour period.

Q: What happens if you lose your parking ticket?

A: There is a $15 lost-ticket fee plus the daily parking rate according to Ampco’s parking records.

Q: Are their special rates and rules for long-term parking?

A: Rates remain the same. Vehicles can park up to 30 days. More than 30 days, the motorist needs to contact Ampco Parking to make arrangements. If the vehicle remains more that 30 days without prior arrangement, the vehicle will be towed at the owner’s ex

pense.

Q: Why can’t you wait in your car by the curb to pick up people waiting for their baggage?

A: The curb is for active loading and unloading of passengers.

Q: Where is the cellular telephone waiting lot located, and is there any cost for that?

A: Honolulu Airport has two cell lots. A map of their locations is on our website.

Q: Are there ways the airport can assist a passenger who can’t fin

d his or her car?

A: Throughout the parking structures on each landing there is signage with a phone number for any passenger requiring assistance. Our airport communications staff answers the call and assists and/or directs the passengers, depending on the need. For a lost vehicle, airport communications would contact security to assist.
