Toilet paper is latest in bridal finery

Feeling creative? 
 
Kahala Mall and Hawaii Bride and Groom Magazine are hosting a Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Design Contest at the mall’s “The Bridal Event,” 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 28. 
 
Dress and headpiece entries must be constructed of toilet paper, glue, tape and ribbon that will be provided. The use of Velcro, zippers, clasps, snaps, buttons and other unapproved materials is prohibited. The entries must be wearable by an adult model or dress form. Contestants and models must be at least 18 years old. 
 
The dresses will be judged on creativity and originality. First prize is $250 in Kahala Mall gift certificates; second place, $150; third place, $75.

WEDDINGS

Couples married in the past six months may submit a free wedding announcement. Forms are available at the Honolulu Star-Advertiser at Waterfront Plaza, 500 Ala Moana Blvd., Suite 7-210, and online at staradvertiser.com/celebrations.

Submit a completed form along with a photocopy, PDF file or digital photo of your official marriage certificate (a clear smartphone photo is acceptable). Wedding photos are optional and will not be returned.

ANNIVERSARIES

Couples celebrating 25th, 50th or 75th wedding anniversaries are invited to share their news in a free announcement as well. We welcome both a current photograph of the couple and a wedding photo. Photos are optional and will not be returned.
