Parents are always complaining about kids bouncing off the walls. At iTrampoline in Kapolei, that is practically a requirement.

Parents can partake in the fun or sit back on a plush sofa and watch their kiddos bounce on various trampoline setups. But it would be hard to just sit there and watch.

The trampoline park fills a 14,000-square-foot warehouse with five areas: dodgeball courts, a foam pit, basketball hoops, a toddler area with an inflatable bounce house, and a sea of single-person trampolines, tiled together and surrounded by trampoline-covered walls.

The basketball setup offers low and high baskets to let kids and adults test their ability to slam-dunk a ball when aided by a little bounce.

The foam pit, where participants bounce down a trampoline and fling themselves into a sea of blue foam blocks, is deep enough that some require help to escape the cushiony mass.

Jaylene Chee brought her son, Brandon, 9, and her daughter, Kirra, 5. "I personally enjoyed it because it gave me a chance to play with the kids while getting exercise," Jaylene said.

Kirra and her mom had fun jumping from trampoline to trampoline, while Brandon remained in the dodgeball area the whole time. He didn’t want his mom and sister to join him because he said it was "too dangerous" for them.

Though the kids had fun, Jaylene mentioned, "I wish they had annual passes, because it was kinda pricey."

According to project manager Robert Bice, lots of planning went into the facility. "When we started the process, there was about 50 parks across the nation. That number has more than doubled," he said. "The industry has grown tremendously since we opened in April."

Athletic or comfortable clothing are suggested attire. Socks with nonslip grips are required and can be purchased at the counter for $3.

Families visiting the facility are required to fill out a waiver form upon arrival. But Bice says that the construction is carefully designed with high-grade materials to ensure safety.

"Unlike home trampolines, our trampolines were specially designed and offer spring-loaded frames (which allow for more give and bounce) and 2-inch-thick safety pads covering all of the frames and springs," he said. The trampoline walls and court monitors are there to prevent accidents as well.

"We were determined not to have bleachers, so we added the couches. Free Wi-Fi is available," Bice said. "We wanted to build a family-friendly environment focused on family, fitness and fun."
