Lihue woman dies after being found in Kalapaki Bay
A Lihue woman who was found unresponsive Wednesday night in waters off Kalapaki Bay was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
The victim has been identified as Karen Lardizabal, 67.
According to police, a man located the woman while swimming in the bay about 6:30 p.m.
The man, who happened to be a medical doctor, brought her to shore and immediately began performing CPR until medics arrived.
Lardizabal was transported to Wilcox Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
According to police, an autopsy was performed Thursday, but results of the autopsy are pending.

Volunteers with Life’s Bridges, a grief counseling service, is assisting the victim’s family.
