Police arrested several suspected vehicle thieves Tuesday, including a 44-year-old man who was observed in the Kalihi area driving a motorcycle reported stolen in 2011, according to police records.

The man, who has no local address, was arrested around 5 p.m. on N. King Street near Kameaani Street on suspicion of operating a stolen vehicle after a routine traffic stop revealed that the motorcycle he was driving had been stolen, police said.

Then, around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday in Nanakuli, police observed a 19-year-old man driving a moped on the sidewalk that turned out to be stolen, according to police records. 

Police said the Nanakuli man attempted to elude police when they tried to stop him for the traffic violation. He was located a few minutes later on Pua Avenue and arrested on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle, according to police records. 

In the Keeaumoku area early Tuesday morning, a patrol officer saw a van in an area known for recent burglary cases and later arrested the driver for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle and unrelated drug offenses, police said.

Police said a check of the van’s license plate just before 5 a.m. revealed it had been reported stolen, and officers later conducted a traffic stop near 730 Captain Cook Ave. after observing a 22-year-old Kalihi man driving the van.

A check of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia, and dangerous drugs were found on the man, police said. He was arrested at 5:05 a.m. on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle and various drug offenses, according to police records. 

Also Tuesday, police caught a 17-year-old with a stolen moped in the Waikiki area, police said. The teen was arrested around 4:11 p.m. on suspicion of second-degree theft and released pending investigation.
