HILO >> According to court documents, a woman says she stabbed her boyfriend in Pahoa after he threatened to kill her because a puppy defecated on his sofa.

Manaolanalani Lina Benford was arrested and later released after last month’s stabbing death of Shane Kanoa Ah Chock Campbell.

Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported today that court documents state Benford called 911, telling a dispatcher she stabbed Campbell and the she thought he was dead.

Court documents say police found a dagger with a 6-inch blade and dried blood.

Benford’s 8-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter were there at the time. According to the documents, the boy told police Campbell was beating his mother.
