Developer plans construction near Kahaluu Beach
KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii >> A Honolulu-based company is making plans to develop 42 acres on the Big Island’s west side.
West Hawaii Today (http://bit.ly/17YTyeM) reports Towne Development Hawaii Inc. wants to put three-story time-share buildings with 321 units and 17 single family homes on land it plans to acquire from Kamehameha Investment Corp.
The land is upland from Kahaluu Bay Beach Park.
Project consultant William Moore says Towne Development Hawaii Inc. will file for a special management area major permit.
He says that the three- to nine-month process would be followed by design work and that if market conditions support the project, construction could begin in 2015.
The proposal has drawn comment from nearby property owners concerned about the effect on traffic and water supply in the area.
