Injured mountain biker rescued off popular Maui trail
Maui firefighters rescued a mountain biker who injured his back on a popular off-road trail in Makawao Saturday.
The 25-year-old man from Austin, Texas, apparently fell off the Kahakapao Loop Trail at about 4:45 p.m..
Makawao firefighters and American Medical Response personnel hiked about a mile into the trail and took the victim out to a waiting ambulance, which took him to the Maui Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
