Irene Herold, former dean of Mason Library at Keene State College in New Hampshire, has been named the new university librarian at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
She started Wednesday.
Herold is currently a director-at-large with the Association of College and Research Libraries.
UH-Manoa Chancellor Tom Apple said, “Dr. Herold possesses an exemplary background and experience in academic leadership and in promoting and sustaining innovative programs within higher education.
She has an impressive expertise, academic and administrative experience and strong recognition and respect in the national arena. We enthusiastically welcome her leadership for our library and our university.”
Herold obtained her doctorate in the Managerial Leadership in the Information Professions program at Simmons College. She holds a Master of Librarianship from the University of Washington and earned a Master of Arts degree in history at Western Illinois University.
