Kona man charged with Kailua-Kona burglary
A 23-year-old Kona man was charged today with several offenses in connection with a burglary on Queen Kalama Avenue in Kailua-Kona on April 5.
Tonino Benson of Kailua-Kona was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of burglary. He was also arrested and charged with failure to appear in court and failure to return a rental vehicle in cases unrelated to the burglary. His bail for those offenses was $1,300. He appeared in court on Thursday for those charges and then was returned to the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued the burglary investigation.
Benson was charged today with burglary, theft, attempted theft and forgery. His bail on those charges was set at $11,000. He remains at the cellblock pending his court appearance Monday for the charges related to the burglary
