WAILUKU » Maui police say a woman was killed after being struck by a truck while walking across the Piilani Highway.

Police say 49-year-old Lynnette Marie Korinko of Kihei was hit at about 4 a.m. Monday on the highway near E. Waipuilani Road in Kihei. Police say Korinko had walked across two lanes of traffic and stopped briefly on the highway’s double yellow lines before proceeding. She got to the outside lane of traffic before being hit by a small truck that was traveling toward Maalaea.

The driver of the truck and two passengers were not injured.

Korinko was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center where she died.
