As if cornering the market on gourmet hot dogs weren’t enough, Hank’s Haute Dogs has introduced $4.95 Hankburgers, classic burgers served up weekends from a burger truck in Hank’s parking lot at 324 Coral St.
After building a great following for monthly burger specials at Hank’s, Henry “Hank” Adaniya discovered demand for his classic hand-formed, chargrilled burger, made with 80 percent lean ground chuck.
The burger is dressed with tomato, diced onions and shredded lettuce to ensure you get a little of each in each bite, as opposed to whole lettuce leaves and raw onion rings that can be unwieldy. Then there’s old-fashioned Hank sauce (his not-so-secret combination of ketchup, mustard, mayo and a touch of pickle juice).
For those who pride themselves on being deciders, there is one option: cheese (add 50 cents) or no cheese.
A combo meal of plain burger, fries, haute dip and small soda is $8.70.
The truck will serve only Hankburgers, soft drinks, natural-cut fries and haute dips with flavors such as chipotle, garlic aioli, wasabi and spicy curry good for both fries and atop the burger.
BYOB welcome!
Service hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The burgers will also be available inside Hank’s Haute Dogs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
This could be the start of burger wars in Kakaako, with The Whole Ox Deli’s 21-day dry-aged burger right around the corner for your comparison.
