Kahuku defeats Farrington to reach state football final
Kahuku running back Aofaga Wily rushed for 141 yards and four touchdowns in the Red Raiders’ 47-14 win over Farrington tonight in the semifinals of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Division I State Football Championship at Aloha Stadium.
Kahuku (11-0), the defending Division I champion, will face Punahou next Friday in a rematch of last year’s title game.
Wily scored three times in the first half and the Kahuku defense held Farrington to 5 yards in total offense as the Red Raiders built a 24-0 lead going into halftime. Lasselle Thompson returned the opening kickoff of the third quarter 95 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 31-0.
Farrington running back Tyler Taumua finished with 104 yards and two touchdowns, including a 78-yard run in the fourth quarter. The Governors closed the season at 9-3.
