A worker cleans up after a sports utility vehicle crashed through the Koøloa Post Office shortly after noon today, taking down a glass wall at the front of the building and damaging about 500 post offices boxes.

A sport utility vehicle driven by a 90-year-old man crashed through a section of the Koloa Post Office Thursday, damaging about 500 post office boxes, Kauai County reported.

The crash occurred shortly after noon. Police said the 90-year-old man pulled into a parking stall but was unable to stop his vehicle, causing it to go over the curb. The vehicle crashed into a glass wall at the front of the building, damaging numerous post office boxes. Police said the driver was not injured.

The post office remains open. Repairs were made to most of the affected boxes except for boxes 1501 through 1560. Affected customers may pick up their mail at the front office window.
