One killed, 2 injured in Waialua head-on crash

A man was killed and two other people hospitalized this morning following a head-on crash involving two trucks on Kaukonahua Road.

The accident occurred at 10:30 a.m., a half-mile above Thompson Corner where Kaukonahua Road joins with Farrington Highway.

Kaukonahua Road was closed between Schofield Barracks and Thompson Corner while traffic was diverted to Kamehameha Highway. It was reopened about 2 p.m.

A man in his 50s was transported in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center. He later died.

A woman in her 70s, who was a passenger in one of the trucks, was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The other victim, a man in his 40s, was listed in serious but stable condition at a local hospital.
