Hawaii home price increases ranked in top five
The more than 8 percent year-over-year increase in Hawaii home prices ranks at No. 5 in the nation.
Data analysis firm CoreLogic Inc. found that the highest home price appreciation from August 2011 to August 2012 occurred in Arizona, where prices rose more than 18.2 percent; in Idaho, more than 10.4 percent, in Nevada, more than 9 percent, and at No. 4, Utah, at more than 8.9 percent. The figures include distressed sales. When calculations were run without distressed sales, Hawaii was not included in the top five states.
CoreLogic reports a national average increase of 4.6 percent, year-over-year. The August figures mark the sixth consecutive increase both year-over-year and month-over-month.
September home prices also are expected to rise by 5 percent, CoreLogic predicts.
