Rain is expected to linger
Oahu residents can expect to see more rain Friday, but it won’t be as gloomy as today, a forecaster from the National Weather Service said.
A very light wind pattern has allowed heating over the island, which created on-shore sea breezes that caused showers to develop today across the interior of the island, forecaster John Bravender said.
Today has been gloomier than usual because there is an area of low pressure near Oahu that has increased moisture and resulted in additional cloud cover, he said.
Bravender said the low pressure area is expected to move west overnight, clearing up the gloominess, but light winds will remain and extend the sea breeze into tomorrow. Residents should expect to see clouds and showers develop during the afternoon across central parts of the island, he said.
Tradewinds will start to come back on Saturday, and the day is expected to be dry, Bravender said. Sunday will also be windy, but rain is expected to return.
Rain was heavy this afternoon in Hilo.
