Interisland Terminal in Kakaako will celebrate underground dining when it partners with San Francisco’s Mission Street Food for a two-day event.
Publishers and culinary entrepreneurs Anthony Myint and Karen Leibowitz will give a talk and sign books at 3 p.m. Sunday at Interisland Terminal’s R&D space at 691 Auahi St.
The duo opened the Mission Street food truck in 2008; it was named one of the 10 best new restaurants in America by GQ magazine. Their cookbook, "Ex Libris," was recognized as one of the top cookbooks last year by the and Bon Appetit.
Admission is $5, or free with purchase of the book ($30) or if you bring your own copy.
On Monday, Mission Street Food will collaborate with Prima Kailua and Whole Ox to present a pop-up, four-course family-style dinner at Whole Ox Deli, 327 Keawe St.
The menu will feature Fish and Chips Two Ways (yellowtail and tarragon; pickled mussels and cucumbers), Fried Chicken Salad (with watermelon, chicories and fromage ranch), Pork and Beans L’Orange (pork belly, lentils, wild rice and charred scallion), Marrow Braised Beef Cheek (with roasted beet, burrata and dill) and Sauterne Shave Ice with Honeydew Cream.
Two seatings will be available, at 6 and 8:30 p.m.; cost is $50. Advance tickets are required; purchase at R&D or through Honolulu Box Office at 550-8457 or honoluluboxoffice.com.
