Hawaii island residents were shaken by a 3.9 magnitude earthquake centered off the coast of Kau early Saturday morning.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the 2:26 a.m. earthquake did not generate a tsunami.

The earthquake was centered about 11 miles east southeast of Naalehu and 54 miles south southwest of Hilo at a depth of about 24 miles.

Responses from the U.S, Geological Survey’s Did You Feel It? website came from as far north as Laupahoehoe and Honokaa and west of the epicenter in Captain Cook.

A 2.0 magnitude earthquake struck in the same area two minutes later at about 2:28 a.m.

A third earthquake struck all the way on the other side of the island in Waimea at about 4:24 a.m. That earthquake registered at a 2.9 magnitude and was centered about 8 miles north of Waikoloa at a depth of 20 miles.

There were no reports of significant damage or injuries from any of the earthquakes.
