Man held in alleged abuse of live-in girlfriend
Honolulu police arrested a 20-year-old man Saturday for allegedly assaulting, kidnapping and strangling his 18-year-old girlfriend last month, police said.
On the night of July 28 and early July 29, the suspect allegedly struck his live-in girlfriend several times with an unspecified “dangerous object” before forcing her into a vehicle against her will and attempting to strangle her, according to police.
Police said that the victim’s hand was allegedly still on the door handle of the car when the suspect tried to drive away, which caused her to be dragged along and further injured.
The man was arrested around 1:25 p.m. Saturday on suspicion of kidnapping, two counts of second-degree assault and abuse of a family of household member.
