A 41-year-old Makiki man is in custody after he allegedly hit a Honolulu police officer Sunday during a scuffle while he was being arrested for allegedly breaking into an apartment near Cartwright Field.

Police said the suspect entered the apartment just after 6 a.m. and was told to leave by a 36-year-old female. When he refused, the woman called police. During the arrest the suspect allegedly struck one of the officers.

The suspect faces charges of resisting arrest, breaking into an apartment and harassment.
