U.S. futures rise as companies post strong results
NEW YORK » U.S. stock futures are following key world markets higher on the strength of solid corporate earnings and ahead of several economic reports.
Among the major companies reporting results before the market opens, 3M, Hershey and AT&T posted better than expected profits. Apple Inc. reports after the market closes.
Dow Jones industrial average futures are up 0.26 percent to 12,904. Standard & Poors 500 futures are edging up 0.15 percent to 1,364.80. Nasdaq 100 futures are up 0.04 percent to 2,651.25.
The major market indicators in Europe are mostly gaining modestly. Germany’s DAX is up 0.31 percent at 6,543. The CAC40 in France is 1.23 percent higher at 3,136. But London’s FTSE 100 is down 1.85 percent at 5,666.
