Driver in Kona crash died of medical condition, police say
Hawaii County police identified Monday the 77-year-old woman who died in a four-vehicle accident Thursday as Alehandra Lauro of Kona.
An autopsy determined that Lauro died from a medical condition and not from the accident, police said.
Lauro was behind the wheel of an SUV when it hit two vehicles, hit a stop sign, overturned and caught fire at the intersection of Route 190 and Hinalani Street in Kailua-Kona at 2:58 p.m.
Lauro was pronounced dad at Kona Community Hospital. Occupants of the other vehicles were not injured.
A fourth vehicle was damaged by debris.
