A 38-year-old man allegedly stole a handbag from a vehicle in Kalihi that contained a sleeping, 35-year-old man Saturday morning, police said.

The vehicle was parked on a public street when the handbag was stolen at 5:10 a.m., police said.

The victim later viewed the suspect from surveillance footage and the suspect was later seen hanging out several blocks away, police said. 

The victim detained the suspect until police arrived and arrested him at 10 a.m. on suspicion of first-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
