X-box leads Honolulu Police to burglary suspect
A 30-year-old man was charged with burglary Thursday after police tracked him down through the Internet by the stolen gaming console he was using at his home, police said.
David Nunes, of no local address, was charged with first-degree burglary. His bail was set at $30,000.
Police said a burglary was reported at Captain Cook Avenue on Jan. 3 in which an Xbox gaming console was stolen.
The victim found his Xbox account was being used and informed a detective who traced the Internet Protocol address back to Nunes’ home.
Latent fingerprints recovered from the scene of the burglary placed Nunes at the scene, police said.
Police arrested Nunes Thursday at the Halawa Correctional Facility where he is incarcerated for unrelated offenses.
