Hawaii County police have charged a 55-year-old Waikoloa woman who allegedly stole the identity of a visiting 91-year-old relative, along with jewelry and cash.

Janice Feeney was charged Wednesday with identity theft, second- and fourth-degree theft, theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card, unauthorized possession of personal information, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

Bail was set at $14,000.

On Monday, police responded to a report that Feeney had stolen jewelry and cash from a 91-year-old relative visiting from California. Police declined to say how they are related.

When officers tried to arrest Feeney, who has no permanent address, she allegedly resisted arrest and struck him in the chest, police said. The officer did not need medical attention.
