Maui brush fire burns small structure, 3 acres
A brush fire burned about three acres and destroyed a small structure on Maui’s North Shore, a Maui Fire Department spokesman said.
Several fire companies and a fire helicopter were sent to the blaze at Hahana Road in Haiku shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday, the spokesman said. One structure, about 200-square feet in size, burned down.
Steep terrain hampered the efforts of firefighters, but the crews extinguished the fire by 7:25 p.m. No one was hurt, and a cause was not determined.
