Senate confirms Water Commission appointees despite concerns
The state Senate confirmed two governor’s appointees to the state Commission on Water Resources Management despite concerns raised by some senators regarding the nominees’ qualifications and the nomination process.
After about an hour of debate, Ted Yamamura, whose nomination also was opposed by several environmental groups, was confirmed by a vote of 19-6. Senators also voted 22-3 to approve the nomination of Jonathan Starr to the seven-member panel. Both are from Maui.
