"Hawaii Five-0" more than held its own in the ratings war Monday, despite the absence of show star Alex O’Loughlin, who missed the episode because he was away receiving supervised treatment for prescription pain medication.
"Five-0" drew 10.3 million viewers to win the hour, according to Nielsen ratings numbers released by CBS. ABC’s encore of the "Scandal" pilot drew 6.21 million viewers, while NBC’s "Smash" drew 5.99 million viewers.
Among adults 18-49, "Five-0" drew 2.6 percent of the total viewing audience and 7 percent of those watching TV at the time, the network said. "Smash" was a distant second, drawing 2 percent of the total viewing audience and 5 percent of those watching at the time.
"Five-0" had not aired an original episode since March 19, when Ed Asner guest-starred. It won’t air another new episode until April 30, when CBS runs the first half of a two-episode special that includes the cast of "NCIS: Los Angeles."
O’Loughlin, who plays Steve McGarrett, missed the crossover episodes as well, returning to work only this past Monday.
