A 32-year-old Puhi woman is in critical condition following a head-on traffic collision in Poipu Saturday.

According to police, the woman was driving a Ford sedan on Poipu Road around 5 p.m. when her car crossed the center line and struck a Ford convertible driven by a male tourist.

The woman suffered severe head injuries and was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the convertible and his female passenger suffered minor injuries and were treated and released by paramedics at the scene.

Police closed Poipu Road in both direction for about three hours while crews worked to clear the roadway.
