Rainbows edge Dons, 2-1, to open series

Joe Goldenberg’s two-run single in the seventh scored what proved to be the winning run as Hawaii opened a four-game series against San Francisco with a 2-1 victory Thursday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Goldenberg, starting for Kaeo Aliviado who was out with the flu, singled with the bases loaded off of USF starter Alex Balog, who took a no-hitter into the seventh.

Matt Sisto (4-1) allowed an unearned run in seven innings on four hits with three strikeouts to earn the win. He has thrown 29 consecutive innings without walking a batter.

Brent Harrison got Bob Cruikshank to ground into a double play to end the game, earning his third save.

The series continues Friday night at 6:35.
