City impounds property of protesters at Thomas Square
The city Department of Facility Maintenance conducted a 3 a.m. sweep Wednesday of the Occupy Honolulu tents at Thomas Square, the fifth such action.
The city conducted its first enforcement Feb. 1 and had three follow-ups before Wednesday’s action.
The early morning enforcement of the stored property ordinance was in response to complaints from the public and a follow-up on earlier enforcement actions, the city said.
After providing written notices on Monday that the items could not remain on public property, workers impounded four tents and a cabinet, the city said.
