Grove Farm Co. has extended the eviction deadline for Koloa Camp tenants, giving them 30 more days before they have to move from their Kauai homes.
The landowner says tenants must leave by April 8.
Kepa Kruse, who was raised at Koloa Camp and is helping the tenants, said, "We’re all grateful."
Last November, 13 tenants were issued a 120-day eviction notice to leave the property by Thursday to make way for Waihohonu, a proposed 50-unit residential development.
Since the original eviction notice, one family has moved.
Alternative living arrangements were made by several tenants who need additional time, according to a news release.
The rustic homes at Koloa Camp were part of Japanese Camp C of the first plantation established in Hawaii, in July 1835 by Ladd & Co.
