A missing, 75-year-old, female hiker who spent the night in La Perouse on Maui after getting separated from her group was picked up by the Maui Fire Department’s Air-1 helicopter this morning in good shape, firefighters said.

The woman’s husband was waiting for the woman when she touched down and no medical assistance was needed, firefighters said.

The woman got separated from her group hiking around La Perouse around 2 p.m. Saturday and firefighters received a call that she was missing around 8 p.m., when they decided to search for her this morning.

Search-and-rescue crews set out at 5:45 a.m. today.
