Boy, 4, nearly drowns at Waikiki hotel pool
A 4-year-old boy was in critical condition after nearly drowning in a pool in Waikiki.
Lifeguards retrieved the boy from under the water and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation about 2:45 p.m. Saturday, according to dispatch reports.
The boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition, an Emergency Medical Services supervisor said.
Honolulu fire Capt. Carlton Yamada said firefighters were dispatched to Paradise Pool at Hilton Hawaiian Village, but lifeguards had already gotten the boy out of the water and turned him over to paramedics.
