Hawaii moves up to No. 3 in volleyball poll
The Hawaii volleyball team, riding a 21-match win streak, moved up to No. 3 in today’s AVCA Coaches Top 25 volleyball poll, the Rainbow Wahine’s highest ranking of the season.
Hawaii (26-1) recieved five first-place votes in moving up three spots from last week.
USC (24-4) remained No. 1 followed by Nebraska (23-3), which moved up two spots.
UCLA (24-5), the only team to beat Hawaii this year, fell two spots to No. 4 and Texas (20-4) jumped four spots to No. 5.
Rounding out the Top 10 are Stanford (21-6), Illinois (25-4), Purdue (25-4), Penn State (21-7) and California (25-6).
The Wahine are the top seed in this week’s Western Athletic Conference tournament in Las Vegas and have a bye into Tuesday’s semfinal. They will face the winner of today’s match between Fresno State and Utah State Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Hawaii time.
