Oahu’s food landscape continues to shift as two popular eateries wind down.
First, fans of the Zaratez Mexicatessen food truck will have to wait for owner Paul Zarate’s next move before they can enjoy his food again.
Prospective plans include operating a smaller cart for special events and returning to Chinatown as a mobile operation. Zarate also continues to consider a traditional brick-and-mortar space.
In the meantime he will continue to seek catering opportunities, and a pop-up restaurant could also appear in a matter of weeks.

Followers of the pop-up restaurant Plancha, which is housed at Manoa’s Morning Glass Coffee + Cafe on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, don’t have to worry just yet. But chef Bob McGee says Plancha will serve its last dinners on Nov. 14, 15 and 16.
McGee is working on another project that he’s yet to announce, saying only that it will be set up in the Kakaako area.
Plancha’s meals are truly farm-to-table. McGee spends his week running from farm to farm seeking the freshest ingredients, so he won’t confirm menus until the last minute. But he says he hopes to present seafood and beef dinners in Plancha’s final weeks.
Dinner at Plancha is served at 8 p.m. at the cafe at 2955 E. Manoa Road. Plates are $45, cash only. To book a reservation, call 457-0997.
