Fair to spotlight 40 Kauai artisans

Poipu, Kauai » Works by more than 40 Kauai artisans will be featured at the Garden Isle Artisan Fair, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Poipu Beach.

Handcrafted products including photography, jewelry, aloha wear, wood carvings, passion fruit jellies, paintings, linens and baskets will be available.

Olomana, Hewett to play at benefit

Lihue, Kauai » A concert to benefit victims of Japan’s tsunami is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 14 at Vidinha Soccer Field.

Proceeds will be directed to the Iwaki area of Japan. Performers include Jerry Santos and Olomana, Kainani Kahaunaele, Donavon Frankenreiter, Baiyu Fanfair, Glenn Medeiros and Kawaikapuokalani Hewett and many others. Tickets are $15 at the door.

Tickets for cruise are still available

The Pacific Islands Institute travel agency has about 20 discounted cabins remaining for the seven-night Pride of America interisland cruise departing Nov. 12.

Tickets start at $949 per person, double occupancy, representing a 30 to 40 percent discount.
