All lanes open on Ala Moana Boulevard after water line fixed
Board of Water Supply crews fixed a second leak on an Ala Moana Boulevard water line and reopened all lanes in the Waikiki-bound direction near Hobron Lane at about 11:30 a.m.
Crews reopened the center lane of Ala Moana Boulevard in the Waikiki-bound direction at about 6 a.m. However the left lane and left-turn lane to Hobron Lane remained closed as crews finish repairs.
Crews were fixing another leak on the 6-inch line and restored water service at about 1 a.m., when they noticed another break on the same line, which was originally installed in 1941.
Crews originally closed the center and left lanes at 7:30 Monday to fix the first leak. One building and three restaurants were affected by the loss of water service.
The leak was detected as part of the agency’s ongoing water system leak detection program.
