APEC higher education conference to be held next month
Educators from across the region are traveling to Honolulu next month for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference on Quality in Higher Education.
The conference is being organized by the University of Hawaii and the East-West Center from Aug. 4 to Aug. 6.
The higher education meeting comes ahead of the full APEC summit of world leaders in Honolulu in November.
The August conference will bring together participants from 20 of the 21 APEC economies to discuss identifying and developing best practices in higher education.
Speakers include U.S. Department of Education Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education Eduardo Ochoa, Ralph Wolff of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies emeritus professor John Hawkins and University of Hawaii political science emeritus professor Deane Neubauer.
