The right lanes of Kalakaua Avenue near Beachwalk Avenue have reopened following a water main break, the city Board of Water Supply says.

Crews have installed a steel plate over the excavated area with the intention of returning Tuesday to complete repairs to utility lines.

The area will also be repaved sometime after 9 a.m. Tuesday, said Kurt Tsue of the water agency.

Earlier, crews completed repairs to an 8-inch water main break on Kalakaua near Beachwalk in Waikiki. 

Water has been fully restored to affected customers. 

The two right lanes of Kalakaua Avenue were closed near Beachwalk during the road work.
