A 31-year-old man is facing a robbery charge after punching a man from whom he sought a cigarettte Friday night in Iwilei, police said.

The incident began about 8 p.m. Friday when the man asked a 43-year-old man for a cigarette, police said.

The younger man grabbed the older man’s plastic container of tobacco and punched the older man when he grabbed the younger man’s arm, police said. The assailant rode off on a bicycle. Officers found the younger man at Iwilei Road and Kuwili Street, and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
