Chaminade names another men’s basketball coach after new hire quits
Eric Bovaird, an assistant coach at West Liberty University in West Virginia, will be announced as Chaminade University’s new men’s basketball coach, athletic director Bill Villa said today.
Bovaird will replace Jerry Carrillo, who took the job for less than a week before changing his mind, Villa said.
Carrillo was not immediately available for comment.
The position became open when Matt Mahar left Chaminade in May to become head coach at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass.
West Liberty went 33-1 this past season, losing to Brigham Young University-Hawaii in the NCAA Division II semifinals.
