Family fun at new baby expo

Meet Clifford the Big Red Dog, participate in a baby-crawling contest or visit informational booths at the annual New Baby Expo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Kai-lan, star of Nickelodeon’s preschool series “Ni Hao, Kai-lan,” will also make an appearance.

More than 150 exhibitors will feature products and services for the whole family. “Hawaii’s Largest Baby Shower” challenges prospective parents to perform shower games to win prizes at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Expo visitors may enter to win a two-night Labor Day weekend stay at the new Aulani Disney Resort & Spa.

Get your groove on for a week packed with dance festivities

Families can lace up their dance shoes — and keep them on all week — for “National Dance Week Hawaii,” a celebration of dance starting tomorrow.

The weeklong event will offer free classes in hip-hop, street style, jazz, ballet, capoeira, burlesque, hula, yoga, Pilates and Zumba. All ages and skill levels are invited.

Festivities begin at noon tomorrow at Fresh Cafe, 831 Queen St., with workshops going on all afternoon. Choreographers giving workshops include hip-hop dance pioneer Ejoe Wilson, who has worked with Mariah Carey, MC Lyte and Heavy D; and Melanie Aguirre, who has worked with Usher and Keyshia Cole. Dancers who register for the workshops can audition for a group that will tour China or apply for two scholarships for a dance internships in New York this summer.

“Hawaii All Styles,” a dance competition, will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. May 22 at Fresh Cafe. Ticket prices range from $5 to $15.
