At least two people were displaced from their home by a fire near the Hawaii Convention Center.
The fire started shortly before 1 p.m. on Kahakai Street, police said. Firefighters extinguished it in about an hour.
Smoke filled the air along Atkinson Drive and police closed the southbound lanes of Kahakai Street. The road was reopened by 2:45 p.m.
The American Red Cross sent personnel to help affected residents with temporary housing and their immediate emergency needs for food and clothing.
