Police arrest ‘person of interest’ in Aiea shooting
Police arrested a 31-year-old man considered a “person of interest” in last week’s early morning shooting of man in the parking lot below Aiea Bowl.
On Tuesday, Honolulu CrimeStoppers asked for the public’s help in finding Joseph R.M. Pasion in connection with the shooting. Police did not describe him as a suspect, but said they wanted to question him.
Police arrested Pasion on suspicion of attempted murder at the Best Western Hotel on Nimitz Highway early this morning. He has not been charged.
Police said a gunman got into an argument at the Aiea Bowl and was asked to leave by security. Police said the suspect was apparently still upset about the confrontation, went to his car, took out a gun and shot a man in his 30s, who was standing by his car at about 1:15 a.m. on April 30. Police said the victim and suspect did not know each other and the victim may have been an innocent bystander.
The victim was hospitalized in good condition with a shoulder wound.
