Honolulu water utility’s chief engineer to retire
The Honolulu Board of Water Supply’s chief engineer plans to retire this summer.
Wayne Hashiro told the water utility he plans to retire as of June 30. The board says it will immediately begin to search for a new chief engineer.
The utility said Monday deputy director Dean Nakano is due to take over the duties and responsibilities of directing the department during the transition.
Separately, the board said Honolulu’s chief facility maintenance engineer is the newest member of the Board of Water Supply’s Board of Directors.
Westley Chun automatically became a board member earlier this month when he was confirmed as the director of the city’s Department of Facility Maintenance.
